31 Days of Decorating on a Shoestring Budget Day 8, Drop Cloth Curtains

Welcome back to my 31 day series of decorating on a shoestring budget.   If you missed last week you can catch up here:

When you're on a shoestring budget window treatments can really put a cramp in your style.  Why is that?

Well, window treatments are expensive.  Especially good window treatments.  Most cheap window treatments look... well, cheap.

But you probably don't have a couple hundred bucks (or couple thousand if you want to be really fancy) to spend on one window.  And you surely don't want to buy cheap window treatments which can bring down the look of the entire room.

What's a girl to do?

A great option is to make your own curtains out of drop cloths.  There are several no-sew options for those of you that are "sewing impaired" like me.

Shanty 2 Chic has an easy to follow tutorial found here.  She painted stripes on hers and the results were super-cute.

DIY Show-off has a very detailed tutorial for no-sew panels here.  She fancied hers up with hand-written script that she did herself with a Sharpie!  Looks lovely!

If you can sew your possibilities are endless!

It All Started with Paint made these lovelies, her tutorial is here.

There are tons and tons of options for drop cloth window panels.  The best part is, they are so inexpensive that if you mess them up it's not that big of a deal to just get some new ones and try again.

Have you made anything with drop cloths?
