Flaunt it Friday 181! and Christmas Light Woes

Hey peeps!  Since Christmas time seems to go by too quick I always put up our decorations a little early.  Usually the weekend before Thanksgiving.  Since Thanksgiving is so late this year I decided to start last weekend.  I am not done but I've got a good start.

One of my least favorite parts of Christmas decorating is putting lights on the trees.  Mr. Chic used to do this job but was busy with other projects (building a desk and shelving unit for our office, yippee!) so I had to do it myself.

To avoid this whole process we bought pre-lit trees.

What a joke that is!

This year our 9 foot tree (my "fancy" tree) had only 3 strands that worked.

BOOOOOOoooooo.

We also got a new to us 7 foot tree to replace our old and scraggly "kids tree".  Only 1 strands worked on that sucker.

BOOOOOOooooo.

But it was free so I can't really complain.

Anyway, both were out of "warranty" but a one year warranty is pretty useless since they usually only work for one season anyway.  They might as well just give you a one month warranty.

With all of the advancements and technology these days you'd think they could make some Christmas lights that will work for more than one season.  That would be a Christmas miracle. ;)

Have you put up your Christmas decorations yet?  Did your pre-lit tree come back to life this year??

  3. Thanks for hosting Kate, appreciate joining in. I have just started adding a bit of Christmas decoration; a poinsettia, a vase of holly with red berries, a wreath on the front of the house. Now I wonder if you added strings of Christmas lights to your tree with the built in lights that didn't light?

  4. Thanks for the party, Kate! I start decorating just before December 1st because, even though I love Christmas I don't want to decorate too early -My bday is 1 month before Christmas Day, so I don't want to focus on xmas just yet lol I do keep my decor up for a very long time after - at least 20 days after xmas. It's an old Swedish tradition :) Hugs and Spring greetings from Australia♥

  5. Hi Kate,

Sound like you are in the Christmas Spirit, and looking forward to trimming the pre-lit trees, which still add that sparkle, right? Thanks for hosting and have a lovely Thanksgiving!

  7. I always hold my breath as we test the Christmas lights every year! We put ours up first weekend in December, which I thought was quite soon (maybe not) Some people living near here have theirs up already! Thanks for the opportunity to share. Have a lovely weekend

  8. Thanks so much for hosting! I hate the pre lit trees because I always end up adding more lights anyway and they do eventually not work so you still have to add your own lights to the tree!!

  10. Thanks for hosting, Kate! I know what you mean about the lights...my husband had to splice together some of the wires last year to get a big section back operational. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving week!

  15. Ive never had a problem with my prelit faux trees coming back to life. Maybe storage or clmnate could be causing them to die faster? Ive always bought super cheap trees so i doubt the quality is whats keeping them going.
