Organizing and Decluttering for Unorganized and Cluttery People

Hey there!

Well, it's that time of the year again, time to get organized and declutter our homes and lives.

WOO HOO!!!! :)

Or is it more like...

woo hoo... kind of.  :-/

Usually I start out all like "WOO HOO!!!!" and then I sorta trickle out around the end of February.

For some, organizing comes easy, for others, not so much.  I am unfortunately in the "not so much" category.  I am not organized by nature and I happen to be a little bit of a pack rat person that tends to hang on to things that they really don't need anymore.

For a little over a year I have been working on organizing my home and getting rid of unnecessary stuff.  Nothing crazy, just trying to live more simply.  Sometimes doing ok, most of the time failing...   Paper still piles up as does the laundry, I still have way too much stuff, I struggle with meal planning and using coupons, there are parts of my house that have no organization.  Last year I definitely lost my organizing mojo early.  This year I hope to keep it longer... like forever.  That's a pretty lofty goal but I know if I continue to take small steps I'll get there eventually.

Last year I started this series for people like me, "Organizing and Decluttering for Unorganized and Cluttery People"... in this series you are not going to find big expensive overhauls or time-consuming cutesy craft projects to make organizational items prettier.  This is going to be practical organizing/decluttering for someone that struggles with organization and clutter.

Some of my organization will be cute but NOT over the top.  Because let's face it, if you struggle with organization and clutter, you probably don't have time to cover cardboard boxes in scrapbook paper and glitter glue in order to make cute storage bins.  I don't have time for that.  If you do, more power to ya, friend.  I gotta get it done while I can and work with what I got!

Since it's that time of the year I thought I'd dedicate a page to all of my organizing and decluttering posts.  This way they will all be in one place and I can add to it as I start my organizing and decluttering for 2013.

Click the button below to check them out... the button will also have a new home in my sidebar so you can find it easily anytime the organization bug strikes. :)

  5. Bring on the practical ideas! If we get them nailed down, we'll have way more time for cute craft projects.

  6. I used to be an organized neat freak. Now at 45, working full time with a 9 and 11 year old...everything is a mess. In fact, I had to let go of my housekeeper because just de-cluttering before she came every time made me feel nuts!! I just set out a huge pile of donations on our driveway yesterday. It does feel good!!
