Burlap Fall Mantle

Hey there!  How are you on this lovely fall weekend?  I am doing great.  I did absolutely nothing this Saturday but hang out in my favorite hoody sweatshirt cuddled up on the couch with my boys.  Isn't it nice to just have a lazy day sometimes...

The boys were choosing the tv shows, lately they've been filling up our DVR with reruns of America's Funniest Home Videos.  Instead of deleting them after they watch them, they will actually watch the same ones over and over again and laugh hysterically even though they've already seen it.  It cracks me up to hear them belly laughing at this silly show so I don't mind.

I'll let you in on a little secret... now don't tell my boys but Mommy doesn't think the show is all that funny  (how many times can you watch someone get hit in the groin by a 3 year old with a plastic baseball bat, seriously) so Mommy spent a lot of time staring at the fireplace enjoying her fall mantle. ;)

Anyway, I kept my mantle pretty simple this year, burlap ended up being the theme although I didn't plan it that way.

I used my burlap wreath that I made a couple weeks ago (tutorial to come) as a jumping off piece.

I picked up these cute pumpkins wrapped in French script printed burlap at Hob Lob, I'm a total sucker for French script.  They were 40% off so I didn't feel too bad about picking up something new.  These probably would be super easy to make but since they were so cheap, it probably would've cost more to make them.  I stuck them on some candle sticks I already had to give them some height.

I like that the burlap goes well with natural colors of my fall garland.  No bright phoney oranges happenin' up in here.

I left my vase o'sticks up and added some lighted black sticks that I'll use for my Halloween mantle.... which will be right around the corner, October is coming right up!

Have you done your fall mantle yet?  It's about that time! :)

  1. Your mantel turned out great! I love hoe you used the candlesticks to hold the pumpkins (great find on them).

  3. I love this! I love the natural beige tones and the textures brought in from the burlap. And its gorgeous set against the black of the mirror and the candlesticks. Also love that the garland has pine cones in it. It's a fun extra touch beyond the berries, leaves and pumpkins of generic garland.

    Great work!

  9. Oh, I like it - very natural. We still don't have a mantel up yet so I need ideas for a no-mantel decor! Ideas? My boys have been asking to decorate for Halloween, gotta get on it! Have a great week!
